Fordite Cabochon

Fordite is a man-made material, paint overspray from car factories.  The paint builds up on the inside equipment in the booth.  The paint is chipped off while cleaning the booth and then is sold.  This material actually came from the Corvette factory in Kentucky.

The cabochon measures 40 x 19 x 4.2 mm.  It has a girdle height approx. 2.4 mm and is sloped at 5 degrees for ease in setting.  The back is also polished.
